Insane? Quite Possibly.

(onemoremilerunning.com)
Didn't train as well as I could have for this half marathon tomorrow and I have been fighting a cold for the past few days. If my friend Cindi wasn't MAKING me go with her there is NO WAY I'd be meeting her at 4:30 am (I know!!) to participate in this hot humid sweat fest! Absolutely no way. Hey, I already picked up my shirt. Isn't that what it's all about? The shirt?! =) Eyes crossed that I muster up enough energy to even walk the 13.1 miles. Things are not gonna be pretty.
I had thought about putting Beijing 08 on my singlet in reference to picking up Ellie before the year ends. Guessing people would chuckle thinking I was late (and not qualified!) for the Oly.pics! London 2012 I am not aiming for!
Yikes, it's almost 7 pm right now so I'd better go to bed! =)

One thing leads to Another

and can keep you blog hopping for hours. Shame on me with all this schoolwork to do! Ok, so through my cousin's Jenny's blog (you met her here) to her 100% cotton friend's blog to this cool ring on My Mom Shops which led me to this etsy siteAccessory a la Mode. Whew.

Which reminded me check out my wzgirl etsy friend at buttercupbloom who made my sweet lil' Ellen Peach.

Plus this red desk is UH-DORABLE.

Still wading through the pre-school week. At least I have computer access now. Hoping to get into my room by October so I can focus on my referral. Ok, so I can focus on all the craziness building up to my November referral. =)
My assistant principal asked me if I had a date yet. Trying to explain the craziness and uncertainty of each CC@@ stork delivery to someone outside the process is insane!

I have open house tomorrow night but am hoping that (barring t-storms) I get to go to the '80s concert of the year: The Regener@tion Tour: A.BC (yay), Belind@ C@rlisle, N@ked Eyes, Fl0ck of Se@gulls, M0dern Eng.lish!!! Hope to rock out! =)

Teachers Back to School

Yes, it's that time again. This year I am at a different school (after 5 years) and I will say I'm hardly off to a running start. New room construction is being completed and crews are into the third stage of the HVAC re-do which includes my room and the auditorium. The auditorium gets first dibs. Sigh. After a fairly quick meeting (my last school had endless meetings...) we all got to work on our rooms. The room I was offered had no electricity and hasn't been cleaned yet so instead I sat in the a/v room off the library with the teacher's assistants trying to do what little paperwork I could. I still can't log on to a computer at the new school yet. No word, excel...nothing. Twiddle, Twiddle, Twiddle. I finally asked if I could drop off files at two schools and go home to work. I did and took a nap. THAT I am good at. =)
Not quite the way to start off my new year, sadly. Tomorrow is convocation and I can sit in the dark and do some more nothing for awhile.
Grrrr, I thought I was losing my nasty streak but it's clinging on ferociously! =)

Another year at 29...

for my brother! Happy Birthday, Shane!

I went with my niece to the dollar store to get party stuff. She picked out several sports balloons and sports cups, blue plates and a birthday dalmation card "for a friend" to go with her personal purchase of a dalmation statue. We are both sure her daddy will love "her shopping."

My SIL, Dannette, made this beautiful French/Bulletin board for the study (room containing computer desk for me, little table for Ellie).
Matches the curtains and I can put some of Ellie's artwork up there when the time comes.

My mom, SIL and I have started to discuss baby shower ideas, thinking maybe a date in early December. Very exciting! Come on CC@@!

I'm slowly getting out of my funk and moving into my crazed school is starting mode. Thanks for all the support. =)

Hurrumph

I have been in a REALLY nasty mood since at least last Thursday (yeah, some would say earlier!) and I just cannot break out of it. Here it is the end of summer vacation and all I can think of is everything I didn't get done and all I have to do. Can't get a thing done and not sure if I care! I am PO'd at everything. So I will return when (and if!!!) a euthymic mood returns.
Peace out.

Future Projections

My LID is 2/16/06.
I just know I'll be on the cusp!!! Oh the anticipation!

Congratulations

to Charlotte and George who were married Saturday over in London. Charlotte was my roommate when I spent my junior year abroad at the Uni of Hull in England. She was an amazingly dedicated and talented actress then and has continued to find consistent modeling and acting gigs. She and George have been together for several years now and finally tied the knot. All the best you two!
Doesn't she look gorgeous?!

Tuesday Tales

My niece and I created her "squish" for Ellie's One Hundred Good Wishes Quilt.

Meanwhile, my SIL whipped up my study curtains!

I found out my classroom will not be ready for the start of school. "Maybe" a few weeks later. Aaagghh! This is my new school placement and I really wanted to feel a bit settled so I could get into the important stuff, you know, like therapy? Anyway, no room, files are atrocious. I'm going back tomorrow to clean out, toss and reorganize whatever I can. Everything is dusty...ewwww!
But tonight we return to the past. Do-do-do-do-do-do (That's supposed to be an eerie sound cue!)
Off to see Journ.ey, He@rt, and Che@p Trick!

Fill 'er up!

Half Full
Looks like CC@@ might have pushed up til January 31, 2006 as there were no dossiers logged on those days. We're up to February, Folks!

Half Empty
My only worry (gotta have a worry!) is that the September batch will be empty CNY days (i.e., no dossiers logged in so empty days).
As usual, we wait...

I'm reaching...

Yes, reaching for the panic button! It has finally hit me that I have two weeks left of my half day summer school job and my hour a day stint with a brain injured high school student.
Good grief, I have gotten NOTHING done since June!!
My to-do list, so prominently displayed on a whiteboard in my family room mocks me with it's lack of "lines drawn through finished activities". Aaaaghh! My garage still is a pile of school books and, let's face it, school junk that hasn't moved since I unloaded it on the last day of school. Avalanche! My goodwill is still willing it on the other half of the garage. Deplorable! My pictures, scrapbooks and every supposed I absolutely need to keep this memory memorabilia is still in a pile in my office floor. Inexcusable! My ambitious goal of setting up a new and improved method to track my student's progress? Phhlttt! My training for the half marathon in three weeks? Non-existant!
Headless-chicken-mode-fast-approaching.
Breathe. In. Out.
Ok, on the other hand, kudos to me for eating, sleeping and reading RQ my way through Summer 2008!
Who am I kidding? PANIC!!!

And here we are.

A hearty congratulations to those families receiving news of their child waiting for them in China!

A measly 2 days. A stinkin' measly 2 days. I guess I will go back to saying Ellie will be home hopefully before Summer 2009 instead of Christmas 2008.

So it's finally 8-8-08. I am eager to get past these games which seem to have all the CC@@ workers out stringing up lights instead of matching (heard that on RQ-funny!) Mostly though I hope the games are full of respect, fairness and most of all, safe for all.

2 days...

Sigh....

Still waiting for those referrals..."Be tuff. The dog days of summer are ruff."

JUST SAY NO!!

To another small batch of referrals. A nasty rumor of only 2 days worth of referrals is floating around. I can't even think of a word which represents how I feel about this...

August 4th? Time to wish...

A bit of moving forward, a bit of pondering...

Found some cute fabric to make curtains for the study. My SIL is going to make them for me as she did such a nice job on the ones for the nursery. Plus she's going to make a bulletin board with the stripey fabric.

I've been trying to find things to pull rooms together, so to speak. Lately I've been drawn to looking at prints/posters. Here are some of my favorites.

Of course nothing I really like goes with the rooms I am trying to complete! Typical. =)

Thanks to everyone who gave input on my stroller research. I think I've focused in on a few brands but it looks like I have a lot of test driving ahead of me! Cookie from inapinkbox.com Cute, huh?

A solar eclipse, which the Chinese word for is 'Rishi', meaning 'eaten sun', can be seen above visitors at the Jiayuguan Fort on the Great Wall of China in the town of Jiayuguan, Gansu Province August 1, 2008. Eclipses were dangerous omens for ancient Chinese astronomers, but this one comes exactly a week before the torch is lit in Beijing for the opening ceremony of Games designed to restore China's pride and showcase its achievements.
