Bullets

• 71 more school days to go!

• Ellen Peach arrived!! Isn't she a cutie! She joins a couple of the dollies in the wait for Ellie. Note the paint swatch thingies. Robyn asked me if I have pics of my nursery. I have a few on the blog but can't find them. Anyway, I didn't get very far and I switched rooms. I think this summer might be the time to actually make a dent.

•My dad is varnishing the unfinished wood toy chest. Almost forgot I bought it!

•My Aunt Jude is in town picking off malls one by one! Her daughter, Elizabeth, has a cool store if you're in the Provo area, BTW.

•Referrals at the end of the week, maybe? I'm agreeing they will match to the 4th of January.

•Family portrait day was crazy. My brother had the flu, my nephew D. isn't into sitting still and my niece K. was itching for attention being given to D. I can only imagine the utter chaos that will go down when Ellie joins the fam. Here are a couple of the outtakes featuring my niece, nephew and moi.

2 Years LID

2Years/24months as of yesterday since my dossier was logged in at the CC@@. Who'da thunk I'd still be waiting?!
Enjoyed the day lunching with Amanda and Tara at the Painted Lady Tea Room

and then hopefully not poisoning Matthew by making him dinner. Ok, so it was a frozen lasagna, bread and salad so all in all I think it was pretty edible! (Thank you, Shane, for helping me out!)

"Patient" is Hard

I pick up my 4 year old niece from daycare and this Friday we went to St@rbucks as both of us "wanted a coffee" (i.e., Aunt Shi-Shi needed some caffeine bad). The line was very long and I reminded K. that we needed to be patient. K. replied (i.e., whined) "Patient is haaaaaard. I can't do it!" I started to laugh because she was so right and of course, the laughing did not go over well with her. Thank goodness we were next in line to order!
I brought home my "gigantic" Tinker.bell balloon and and my birthday violets. She really liked my violets or my "centerpiece" as she called it. The kid cracks me up.
I'm skipping out on the local FCC Chinese New Year tonight. Just can't handle explaining to all those people my 2 year and growing LID while their children are running around celebrating. Next year...=)
Instead, I am off to see M@tchbox Twenty and Al@nis Moriss.ette. School night, shmool night! Enjoy your week everyone.

A Magical Surprise

I walked into my classroom this morning to the most amazing sight! A huge Magical Tinker.bell Balloon, a gorgeous bunch of violets and this card. Truly one of the sweetest cards I have ever received! I mentioned previously that one of my favorite classes was going to have a birthday celebration with me on Friday. Well, they were going to surprise me with this thoughtful and love filled card.
Their teachers Ms. J & her TA, Ms. H were so creative! The quotes about me as stated by the students crack me up!(You can click on the photos to enlarge if you'd like.) I thought it was very interesting that L., one of the sweetest boys ever thinks I'm "not too fiesty"! I heard from T. that J. actually said I "look sexy" but, Ms. J being the great teacher she is, used that as a teachable moment about being appropriate and they found another synonym!!

The whole class reminisced about various activities we did together and they put it all together to create this lovely, fun tale! They are such a wonderful group of children-so much love. And Ms. J...you rock. Thank you! =)

Also, Congratulations to those families seeing their children for the first time! Referrals officially went through December 27, 2005.

Groundhog Day 2008

Well, February has certainly started with a bump. I celebrated my birthday yesterday with the flu. Can you believe my luck?! Ugg. Not quite the excitement of last year when we learned February was out of review! I was so disappointed to be sick. With a Friday birthday I actually had plans this year! Plus several of the classes at school were going to have mini celebrations for me. The kids are usually more excited than I am on my birthday and that's what makes it so fun! Sigh. Kaitlin sang me a lovely birthday song via the phone this morning though and Davis babbled and hung up on me. =)
News sources report that Ph.il the groundhog says more winter is on the way. (Good book to the left, BTW!) We've been pretty lucky so far here in Virginia, but other parts of the US are suffering and as many of you involved in China IA know, H@lf The Sky is updating us on the HTS sponsored orphanages and things are very rough going at many of the orphanages/SWI's in China. Those families that know where their child is located must be so sick with worry. For me it's a blur of concern-Ellie may be struggling to keep warm and healthy, too. Terribly horrible, as my niece would say.
It looks likely that the cut off is December 26th or 27th 2005. A nice chunk of days, in my opinion. My mom dreamt that I would finally receive my referral/know about Ellie on August 2nd. We'll have to wait and see! All the same, doesn't that seem like right around the corner?! Isn't it crazy that I would say that?!
Happy Birthday to little Baby Girl R, born yesterday (great day!) Her mommy is one of my college roomies and a simply wonderful person! Hope your daddy, brother and sister agree on a name soon! =)
