Referrals & (Mostly) Running

Congratulations to those families logged in through November 25, 2005. They will soon be seeing their babies pictures for the first time!
4 days of referrals...the number of days/referrals wasn't the worst case scenario (that would have been up to the 24th!) Did you see the RQ post noting how only four months of dossiers were referred over the whole of last year (9/1/06-9/1/07)? So we continue to inch along.

And speaking of inching along (smooth transition, eh?!) I finished my third half marathon yesterday! I "ran" til mile 9 and walked until the boardwalk (about mile 12) and picked it up again to the finish. I actually did better than last year , not quite beating my 1st race PR. Still, not bad for non-runner me and poor training in the last few weeks. As of yesterday when the gun went off, I just wanted to finish and be able to walk back to my car! =) The female winner from Kenya finished in 1:11:12. Wow. Maybe if I had just sprinted a bit more at the end?! =)

This year several Elvis (Elvi?) joined the masses of runners, also a group of Ge*ico cavemen (beards & fake teeth), a flamingo, and an impressive Sp*nge B*b. Running 13.1 miles with a cardboard box on your head & torso is an impressive feat in itself!
I keep thinking next year I won't be able to do this as I'll be in China...time will only tell if I'm hobbling around Labor Day 2008 or not. =)

Hummm being in China on Labor Day has a sweet ring to it! Hope this is true for you....actually anytime before then would be great too.
4 days.....Makes me sad.
Congrats on completing your race.
Way to go! I'm just so impressed at your ability to run and finish these races. I doubt I could make it a quarter mile before I had to walk! You are awesome!
I ran a relay in the Air Force marathon many years and many pounds ago. It was 6 1/2 miles and it about killed me. I'm sooooo not a runner. So I completely understand what an accomplishment it is to finish a half marathon. You should be proud of yourself! You go girl!
4 days = speechless
Congrats on completing your marathon! That's awesome :)
Congrats on your trot! Hey, I am still trying to believe you will be HOME from China just before Labor Day 2008.
CONGRATULATIONS on the run! I'm planning on doing my first 1/2 marathon in Feb 08 - I, too, am a definite "non-runner" - never a runner, never liked running, but feel like I need a goal. Of course, I gotta get over this illness I picked up in India and then I must begin training!
Ugh, the new projections have us getting our referrals in June 08 - think we will make it to China before the Olympics??? What are you doing to keep the grumbly ookie feelings out of your head? I'm having a hard time staying positive after this month's referrals.
ugh.
Congrats! What a champion! I don't think I could run 100m, let alone a marathon!!!
