My Poor Gracie

The Gracer has bad knees. She's already had one TPLO/metal plate put in her right leg and now she needs her left leg operated on. Plus she has a "slight" infection on that old metal plate.?????? (That's going to be removed "no charge" by the surgeon...) Seems my summer school money will be going to her latest operation and not my savings...Grrrrr. Gracie and Bernie love to go running with me. Now Gracie just gets about a 10 minute walk/sniff until she starts limping. I have to find a babysitter for her when I run with Bern because if Gracie is left alone (at least without Bernie) she HOWLS and HOWLS and HOWLS. I can hear her down the street. I have a good guess this is the reason she was given up by her previous owners. Separation anxiety. My other option for running would be this...

from Living with a Neurotic Dog. Oh, Gracie...What an expensive free puppy you have become!

Awww! She looks so sweet and I am sure she is worth every dime. She looks like my little Sam from when I was much younger.

I hope she's doing better on her 'feet' soon!

Poor Gracie! Hey, get a jogging stroller and load her up in it! You'll probably want one for Ellie anyway!

We were walking by a pet store the other day, and saw a stroller for dogs in the window. I don't know how it was different from a regular stroller, but the advertisement was "dogs with disabilities can go for walks too!" The things we will do for our animals.... When our Choc. Lab was a pup (of ~50 lbs), my husband carried him home from a walk they were on for almost 3/4 of a mile. It was the winter and Bogey was limping because his feet were too cold. So who do you think is running the show in our house??!!!

Poor Gracie, I hope she is up and at em in no time. They seem so helpless when they can't tell you how they are feeling.

A double jogging stroller might be a good idea! I just pray that this surgery will work out better than the past one and she'll at leat be able to do our weekend "lake walk" like before. The surgery is Friday. Oh, I hate it when my babies are kept overnight! =(
